本書は日米印中露などが朝鮮半島に対してどのような関与をしているのか、多彩なバックグラウンドを持った各国の研究者がそれぞれ分析を行った上で、朝鮮半島における国際関係のインパクトが、将来のインド太平洋地域をめぐる国際関係にどのような影響を与えるのかを明らかにしている。

　伊藤弘太郎（キヤノングローバル戦略研究所 研究員）は、第1部「Critical Perspectives」の第3章で「Japan's Security Pledge in the Korean Peninsula」と題し、北朝鮮の核・弾道ミサイル開発と台頭する中国の軍事力に対して、日本がどのような対応を行ってきたのか、その成果と課題について執筆した。
