CIGS has been conducting research and developing proposals including, 1) to set the global CO2 emission pathway based on overshoot and zero emission scenario; 2) to determine regional emissions and energy mixtures through global energy system cost minimum optimization under the constraint; 3) to establish new international cooperation scheme for achieving the energy mixtures taking the balance between investment and benefit into account. Discussions with the specialists from the main countries have been performed for establishing common understanding.
During November 2013, the COP19 was held in Poland. The international agreement on the post 2020 GHG reductions was difficult to be achieved despites the negotiation efforts. Considering the importance of re-examining the practical CO2 reduction targets based on recent acknowledges of science and technology, we planned this symposium.
During this symposium, this issue was discussed with the domestic and foreign specialists, and the globally sharable long term vision was examined based on recent trends.
