Speaker's introduction
Dr. Yung Chul Park is a distinguished professor in the division of international studies, Korea University. Before returning to Korea University, where he had been professor of economics, he spent three years from 2005 to 2008 at the Graduate School of International Studies, Seoul National University as research professor and director of the Center for International Commerce and Finance. He previously served as the chief economic adviser to the President of Korea, as president of the Korea Development Institute, as president of the Korea Institute of Finance, and as a member of the Central Bank of Korea's Monetary Board. He also worked for the International Monetary Fund, where he is currently serving as an adviser to the Asia-Pacific department. He has written and edited several books including "Economic Liberalization and Integration in East Asia" (Oxford University Press 2006), "Monetary and Financial Integration in East Asia" with Charles Wyplosz (Oxford University Press 2010), and "How Finance is Shaping the Economies of China, Japan, and Korea" with Hugh Patrick (Columbia University Press 2013).
