The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare announced the results of the 2019 employment trend survey on September 30, 2020. This survey records the number of regular workers on January 1 of every year, and subsequently researches the number of people who changed their employment relationship, such as those who got a new job, retired, or changed jobs that year.
Figure 1 shows the new employee rate and turnover employee rate by industry. The accommodation/restaurant/pub industry has a new employment rate and a turnover rate of 36.3% and 33.6%, respectively, and can be said to be the industry in which is the highest employee turnover rate. Figure 2 shows the percentage of part-time employees among new employees by gender. The percentage of part-time employees in the age groups of 19 years or younger and 65 years or older is significantly higher for both males and females.
